FINANCE:

Jackie Granger submitted her written report:

LIENS – Currently there are 19 active liens on 13 properties. No change.

The Consumer Price Index has been posted for October which is how the LISECC dues increase is calculated. A worksheet was distributed showing the CPI for 1998 through 2001 and the maximum increases allowable. The increase over last year’s CPI is 3.19% allowing a maximum increase to LISECC dues of $11.87 to $383.87 from $372.00. A motion will have to be made at the Board meeting to set dues amount for 2002 so that 2002 dues invoices may be sent.

Barbara Myers stated that the Finance Committee, Jackie Granger and the Board put a lot of effort into preparing the budget for next year. The budget has been resolved and will be ready for approval next month.

Bob Bowman asked Jackie Granger to explain about the CPI. Jackie Granger stated that the Consumer Price Index for October 2001 has been released and it is 3.19% greater than last year. Discussion followed.

(2001/12/2) M. Barbara Myers   2nd Laura Mork  “at this point for the calendar year 2002 there will be no dues increase to the general membership.” Passed.
ADMINISTRATION:
Bob Bowman stated that Lucy had planned to be here but something must have come up.

MARINE:
Bob Bowman stated that Al Coghill has already stated that the marine committee is in motion. Al stated that the committee would not be in full swing until April 2002.

NATURAL DISASTER:
Bob Bowman stated that Frankie Small is the chair of this committee and in her report to the board she stated that she has spoken to the fire department about reviewing properties within the Scenic Estates and that LISECC should contact Department of Natural Resources. Ola Bergsholm asked what the cost was. Bob Bowman stated that this has not been looked into but maybe general inquiries could be made to find out the process and the cost.

Frankie Small submitted her written report:

I attended the November Fire Commissioners meeting and presented a check to the Commissioners for $200 for medical aid. As instructed by the board I also asked them to reconsider their decision from last month on touring Scenic Estates looking for fire hazards. I was told they were not qualified to do this and I should notify DNR if we required this.
If anybody is interested in taking the Emergency Training from the Red Cross [or maybe the Salvation Army] please notify Mona Moore 758-7737 and put your name on the list.
SOCIAL:
Darlene Stoffer read a report submitted by Leslie Quento. Report follows:
WOW! Another wonderful Christmas Party. We dined by candlelight and a room full of mini lights. (Yes we had power. We just chose not to use it!) There was a very cozy and intimate atmosphere, just wonderful for catching up on our friends, neighbors and their families. We had a few new families this year. It was great to see them and their children. We had 17 kids all eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa and the goodies he brings. The question of the night was "When's Santa getting here?" With great anticipation they tore into the packages, and the fun began!

The dinner was excellent as always. I'd like to thank my many volunteers.......Luanne Johnsen, Nina Coghill, Laura Camarillo and Barbara Myers for cooking the turkeys and hams. Jill Stratton for serving and whatever else she could find to do. Ken Parr for his Santa duties with which I could not do without, and last but not least, my Mother. She is my right hand, left hand, gopher, shopper (it's the only time she takes orders from me!!) Thank you Mom (and all my other volunteers) for your time and help. I do so appreciate it. If I've left anyone out, please feel free to yell at me. I look forward to the next Social. May you all stay warm and dry this winter. Merry Christmas everyone!

QUARRY:
Bob Bowman stated that Denise Ranney made no report for this meeting.

PROPERTY COMPLIANCE:
Barbara Myers stated that the two sheets that are being circulated are not published by the Board and this information was given to the six committee members to review the properties before any action was taken. At no time did the committee or this board intend for this information to be made available to the general public or to embarrass any individual. This list was not intended for distribution; no plan for the approach to these members was made and this was not a decisive list. Ola Bergsholm stated that board members who are not on the committee have not even seen that list - that should tell you something. Discussion followed.

OLD BUSINESS:
Laura Mork asked for an update on the property in Division 1, Block 2, Lot 16. Jackie Granger stated that the account has been returned to the attorney’s office for lien foreclosure proceedings.

NEW BUSINESS:
Bob Bowman stated that discussion is open on the purchase of a computer. Barbara Myers stated that no discussion has really been undertaken. It is doable but we need to decide if it is something that we should be doing. Discussion followed. Ola Bergsholm asked if there was money left in the budget for this purchase. Barbara Myers stated that this would be within budget.

(2001/12/3) M. Laura Mork   2nd Barbara Myers  “ a computer be purchased in 2001 for water treatment purposes and every effort be made for an economical computer for this purpose not to exceed $1,400.” Passed.
Bob Bowman welcomed JoAnn Bowman to the meeting and asked for any comments. JoAnn stated that she is observing.

Bob Bowman stated that Sharon Granger has requested to purchase a piece of property adjacent to her property. Bob asked Sharon if there was an offer she would like to make. Sharon stated she would like to pay $3000 for the property. Jackie Granger stated that there are two lots adjacent to Sharon Granger’s which have been on the market for $15,000 for both and a property similar to the one in question was sold eighteen months ago for $7,000. If those figures are taken into consideration, the offer seems reasonable. Discussion followed. (See motion 2001/12/4.)

Bob Bowman asked the Board how they feel about Fred Dryden’s suggestion for requesting a mailbox in Scenic Estates for securely sending mail. Ola Bergsholm asked about where it would be located and suggested that it would be best to have it at the firehall. Discussion followed. Darlene Stoffer will look into this.

(2001/12/4) M. Barbara Myers   2nd Laura Mork  “ that we sell the Tract C at the corner of Berry Way and Cedar Avenue to Sharon Granger for $3,000 and she will pay all costs to transfer and bind the property.” Passed.
Bob Bowman asked if there was any further business. Bob Bowman stated this meeting is adjourned.

Next meeting will be January 20, 2001 at 9:30 a.m.
