2nd Annual Crab & Corn Feed
First off, I would like to say Thank You to my crabbers.  Without them we would not have had another Crab and Corn Feed.  Against all odds and the Dept. of Fisheries, they were able to catch enough for a wonderful dinner.  Thank You to Tom Christianson, Neva Buechner, Al and Nina Coghill and Larry Hagen and Celine Belanger.  Larry actually dropped what he was doing in Canada and loaded his boat and drove down here when he heard how hard Tom and Al were working.  I can’t say thank you enough to the 6 of you.  The sad truth is if the Dept. of Fisheries keeps putting restrictions on us and we don’t get more volunteers next year for crabbing, we may not see another Crab and Corn Feed. Maybe you’d like to volunteer next year?  Please keep in mind without the August fund raiser there can’t be a Christmas Party.  Another Thank You to Hal Holmerud for donating the corn that Marge Warner and daughter Jane, Nora Dybdahl and son and Nina Coghill shucked and our Kevin cooked that we all then slathered in butter. Thank you all!  Thank You Celine for all your help in the kitchen and allowing mom and I to have dinner on the back porch!  Thank You Audrey for coming down the next day and helping me and Mom clean up the mess.  Thanks Mom and Chelsea for all your help before and after our do.
We sold 50 dinners and lots of raffle tickets.  We fell $63.00 short of our intended goal for the Christmas Party.  I will have to get really creative to be able to put the Christmas dinner on.  I’ve already started looking for bargains and sales.  Please help me by getting me the names of your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews well before the deadline so I can shop the sales and such.  I’ll be looking for volunteers to do the cooking of the turkeys and hams, so no hiding or checking your caller ID when I start calling!
Thank you to all who came to the dinner.  It was nice seeing some faces that we’ve not seen in a while.  It was a grand night, and even the weather cooperated.  The law of averages is still with us for no rain on the August Social!
Remember, the Christmas Party is now on the second Saturday of December and begins an hour earlier at 5:30pm.
