As promised during last summer's Scenic Estates Disaster Preparedness meeting, Brenda Howell has agreed to offer the Disaster First Aid (DFA) class right here in the neighborhood! The course will be held on Sunday, March 25th from 9 a.m.– 4 p.m., with a short break for lunch, at the Scenic Estates clubhouse.

The DFA course was created in response to the need for Disaster Preparedness Training at the citizen level. It includes training on disaster rapid triage, a 24-hour action plan, emergency care for yourself and others in the first minutes and hours of a catastrophic emergency, and a Survival Guide for the days that follow. Not only will the island likely be cut off from mainland resources for a time, Scenic Estates may also be cut off from island first responders' assistance for a time. The more folks we can train in our own neighborhood, the better off we'll be.

Please register by contacting Sue at fishbiz@gci.net or at 360-927-4295 (or with any questions).  When you register, you'll be provided with a link to the Student Manual; there will be a minimal fee (around $5) to pay for copy charges if you'd like a hard copy.

If enough Scenic Estates residents don't sign to fill the class, we'll open it up to other islanders so please register soon.

Thanks!
