Please come and help!
A volunteer work party coordinated by Scenic Estates staff will work on Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, Saturday, May 5 starting at 10:00 am. We will be clearing brush and limbs from around the Clubhouse area.
Please bring your gloves and brush clearing tools like pruning saws, loppers, and rakes.
A $500 grant from the National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) has funded a chipper for the day. Scenic Estates has been working with NFPA Firewise USA since 2003, the second site in Washington to be recognized as a Firewise Community.
We are a wooded community and our Clubhouse is surrounded by trees reaching up the hill, and the surrounding vegetation needs to be brought under control. The trees will be limbed up and underbrush made manageable.
Scenic Estates is on the side of a steep incline and our neighborhood slope has been described as a "chimney" for fire to sweep up the mountain.
